Account Director, Corporate Communications - Calgary, Alberta

Hill+Knowlton Strategies Canada has an exciting opportunity for a corporate communications account director with energy (oil & gas) experience to join H+K’s growing Calgary team.

The account director would be accountable for client satisfaction with respect to public relations programs, applying strategic thinking and planning, deploying resources and monitoring client projects on a day-to-day basis. The account director would establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders, provide public relations advice and analysis to clients, lead account teams, mentor and coach staff, and contribute to the overall success of H+K’s clients and business.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Eight to 12 years of public relations experience
  • Solid expertise in the energy/oil and gas sector
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing corporate communications strategies, objectives and tactics to amplify corporate thought-leadership, increase executive profile, engage with stakeholders and demonstrate social responsibility
  • Substantial experience implementing multi-faceted corporate communications programs including elements such as media relations, speaking platforms, social media approaches, matte stories, and stakeholder partnerships
  • Solid experience handling direct client contact and providing strategic advice
  • Highly developed oral communications skills
  • Solid understanding and experience with social media, digital strategies and tools
  • Proven ability to deliver projects in spite of such things as delays, changes in direction, and revised budgets
  • Proven account/project management skills, including budget management
  • A desire and ability to coach and mentor staff
  • Ability to work independently and in a high-performing team
  • Public relations agency experience is preferred
