Account Director, Integrated Communications and Public Affairs – Vancouver, British Columbia

Hill+Knowlton is seeking a dynamic and experienced Account Director, Integrated Communications and Public Affairs to join our office in British Columbia, Canada.  

The Account Director is accountable for client satisfaction with respect to government relations and communications programs, applying strategic thinking and planning in an integrated communications capacity. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to developing and directing effective programs for clients, developing key relationships with governmental officials, providing expert analysis and insight, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with various stakeholders, leading account teams, mentoring and coaching staff, and developing strategies to help grow our business.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, preferably in Political Science, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
  • Minimum eight – twelve years of work experience in both public affairs and public relations
  • Experience working on various client groups with a focus on public affairs and integrated communications
  • Demonstrated understanding of the political environment and public policy process, development of key messages and materials for government officials and stakeholder groups, ability to monitor and analyze ongoing developments of relevance to clients
  • Solid experience handling direct client contact and providing strategic advice for clients and stakeholder groups
  • Experience in planning and delivering broadly based communications and public relations programs
  • Proven account/project management skills including budget management
  • Success managing workflow of complex client accounts, projects and teammates
  • Excellent understanding and experience with social media, digital strategies and tools
  • Proven ability to deliver projects in spite of such things as delays, changes in direction, revised budgets and illness of staff
  • A desire and ability to coach and mentor staff
  • Highly developed written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a high-performing team
  • Prior agency experience is a definite asset
