Account Director, Public Affairs - Edmonton, Alberta

Hill+Knowlton is looking for an experienced and progressive public affairs professional with government and stakeholder engagement experience. The account director would develop and manage programs to help clients connect with government stakeholders to achieve their objectives.

The account director would be accountable for client satisfaction with respect to public affairs programs, applying strategic thinking and planning, deploying resources and monitoring client projects on a day-to-day basis. The account director would establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders, provide public affairs advice and analysis to clients, lead account teams, mentor and coach staff, and contribute to the overall success of H+K’s clients and business.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited post-secondary educational institution
  • Six to eight years of Alberta-based public affairs experience
  • Experience in a Alberta Legislative Assembly political office or within the Government of Alberta
  • Experience working with stakeholders in a variety of sectors, particularly in oil & gas, health and pharmaceutical
  • An understanding of the provincial government’s procurement process would also be an asset
  • Solid experience handling direct client contact and providing strategic advice
  • Highly developed written and oral communications skills
  • An understanding of social media, digital strategies and tools
  • Proven ability to deliver projects in spite of such things as delays, changes in direction, and revised budgets
  • Proven account/project management skills, including budget management
  • A desire and ability to coach and mentor staff
  • Ability to work independently and in a high-performing team
  • Prior public affairs/public relations agency experience is a definite asset
